Dr. Tafarki Agbadu Eneme

Nigerian politician Tafarki Agbadu Eneme was born on January 10, 1961, and is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. He is the chairman of the house committee on the environment, urban development, and forestry potential as well as the chief whip of the Taraba State House of Assembly.  

Early Life and Education

Dr Tafarki Agbadu Eneme was born into the royal family of Mr and Mrs Agbadu Wajigba Adamah Nkafwen of Eneme village in Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State. He was born in Taraba State's Eneme, Kurmi LGA. After completing his GCE at Ganye (1975–1980), he went to the old Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School Ndaforo (1969–1975). From 1980–1981 he attended the School of Basic Studies (SBS/ABU Zaria) and from 1983 to 1988 he attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU).

He attended the University of Maiduguri from 1997 to 2001 in order to expand his education, and he graduated with a master's degree in 2001. He enrolled at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka's PhD program from 2011 to 2014 in an attempt to further his education, but was unable to finish it because of his appointment as Commissioner for Health by Alh. Sani Abubakar, the former Acting-Governor of Taraba State.

Political Career

He was appointed Honorary Commissioner for Works and Transportation in 2015–2019 after serving as Commissioner for Health from 2014–2015. Recognizing the need to make a greater difference in the lives of his people, he ran for membership in the Taraba State House of Assembly in the 2019 State Election, representing Kurmi, and won with a sizable majority of the vote. 

His ability and dedication to service were recognized at the state house of assembly, where he was named deputy chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and chairman of the House Committee on Internally Generated Revenue. Due to his past, Agbadu was once more invited by the Kurmi people in 2023 to re-fight for the seat of the Member representing Kurmi, a contest he eventually lost handily.

He currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, Urban Development, and Forestry Potentials in Taraba State, as well as Chief Whip of the Taraba State House of Assembly.
